PH welcomes a high ranking in the protection and promotion of human rights

The Philippines on Saturday reaffirmed its commitment to protecting and promoting human rights by welcoming its high ranking in the US State Department’s 2022 Trafficking in Persons (TIP) report.

The Foreign Office (FDFA) said the Tier 1 ranking the country received “recognizes its tireless and comprehensive efforts to prevent human trafficking, protect victims and prosecute the perpetrators of this heinous crime”.

“The 2022 Trafficking in Persons Report is an acknowledgment of the whole-of-government approach of the DFA and the Inter-Agency Council Against Trafficking (LACAT) in their quest to proactively prevent human trafficking,” he added. in a press release.

The DFA also assured that the government will continue to work with its civil society partners and the international community to strengthen and improve policies, legislation and mechanisms to further reduce and eliminate the crime of human trafficking.
